Local Industry
Tanzania’s tea industry is a significant part of the country’s agricultural sector and a traditional cash crop used both locally and for export. Tea is grown primarily in six regions: Tanga, Iringa, Njombe, Mbeya, Mara, and Kagera, with the Southern Highlands (Iringa, Njombe, Mbeya) producing over 70 % of the crop. Tea farming includes smallholder farmers as well as larger estates and processing factories.
