Invalidity Benefit

Invalidity benefits are offered to members as prescribed in section 33 of Public Service Social Security Fund Act No. 2 of 2018.

Conditions for a member to qualify for this benefit are: -

  • A member has been terminated from employment due to physical or mental illness, which is not work-related sickness or accident.
  • A member is below the age of voluntarily retirement
  • A member has contributed to the scheme for at least 36 months of which, 12 months have been contributed in the year preceding the illness.

Formula used for calculation this type of benefit is: -

  • Invalidity Benefit =1/580*Months of Service* Average highest Salary of 36 Months*0.33*12.5

For member to be granted invalidity benefit, an employer has to submit duly filled form PS-BEN.3 with the following attachments:

  • A letter of notification of invalidity retirement from employer
  • Legal Evidence from Court appointing the administrator
  • Recently salary Slip,
  • Bank Statement certified by the payee’s Bank that indicates at least one salary payment.
  • Certified copy of National ID/ or Voter’s ID or Driver’s License
  • Totalization notification letter from member before payment have been made (contributor of more than one fund)
